We are back and with more Champions League action tonight. We kick off in Turkey where Arsenal will want to make amends on their opening loss. Fenerbahce may be eliminated even if they win the tie due to a Uefa ruling pending. Arsenal cannot take any chances here, and knowing the Turkish side blew a two goal lead against a newly promoted side domestically on Saturday night to lose 3-2.

Arsenal have been urged to spend money and elimination from the Champions League early will surely be one further step in their decline. Arsenal will take a defensive game to Turkey and will head under 2.5 goals in our opinion. Ignoring the results on Saturday, this is Europe and a different game for both sides. A few firms go evens, including Bet365 and Skybet, but William Hill go 21/20 which is a smidgen of value in our opinion!

Schalke should be victors in their game against Greek outfit POAK. Even though they lost in the Bundesliga to Wolfsburg, but will again be in Europe for one goal – to qualify. Doubled up with Basle to get at least a draw in their encounter pays 9/10 with Bet365 for the double. Those wanting a bigger price should consider adding Rosenborg into the double to create a 17/10 return with BetVictor, who are playing in their domestic cup.

The Spanish Super Cup is also screened on Wednesday night with Atletico Madrid facing Barcelona. Barcelona will see themselves as 90 minutes from lifting their first trophy of the season and i am not hesistant after seeing them win 7-0 on Sunday to suggest they will win this. Skybet are best 7/4 that Barcelona win this minus one goal and this suits us. We will also consider them at 8/11 also. Bizarrely bookies have Madrid at a bigger price to lift the trophy than them winning in 90 minutes.

Recommendations:

  • Fenerbahce/Arsenal – Under 2.5 goals – 21/20 Will Hill
  • Schalke/Basle double chance & Rosenborg – 17/10 BetVictor
  • Barcelona to win the Super cup in 90 mins – 8/11 Ladbrokes
  • Barcelona – Over 1.5 team goals – 1.62 Stan James (15 units)
  • Barcelona – -1 17/10 7/4 Skybet

Tuesday Betting

lockup-tipster-badge

This midweek has the Champions League qualifying round come back around. The likes of Celtic, PSV, AC Milan and Lyon are among the teams in action. We also have a game in the Championship and some Scottish Challenge cup action.

Starting off in the Scottish Challenge cup, Dundee have the pedigree to see Forfar off being in a different league and class, hence the 2/5 SP on them. Queen of the South go to Airdree and are as short as 8/11 to see Airdree off. Queen of the South are unbeaten in the last two meetings ans has been three years since the last meeting. Airdree lost their game at the weekend, with Queen of the South managing a 3-3 draw away and should have just enough at 4/5 with Ladbrokes to take the win.

In the Championship, Wigan are just 4/6 at home to Doncaster, who are 5/1 and in some form after beating Blackburn on Friday night. Doncaster have won two games in a row now in all competition, with Wigan losing on Saturday by a solitary goal and interestingly enough the pair have not met since 1997. Both teams to score is 9/10 with BetVictor, with Boylesports opposing at evens for one or neither team to score.

Interestingly the timing of all of the goals between the teams have occurred after the 30th minute, so backing time of first goal at BetVictor is 23/20 for the first goal after 27 minutes, which is a shade of value on the stats obtained.

In the Champions League Celtic are big at 5/4 in Kazakhstan after putting on a good display and will not want to be complacent in looking to seal the deal in the first leg. The Scottish Champions are more than capable of winning at 5/4 with Betfred and William Hill and a mere 3/10 to qualify,

Recommendations:

  • Dundee and Queen of the South – 8/5 Skybet
  • Wigan/Doncaster – Time of first goal after 27 minutes – 23/20 BetVictor
  • Plzen, Zenit St Petersburg and Celtic to qualify – 2.26 Ladbrokes (20 units)
  • Celtic to win – 5/4 Betfred and William Hill

Just a short post today:

We kick off in the League cup where Notts County square off against Fleetwood town. The teams have not met before according to the H2H stats, but County have seen the last three matches in all competition see both teams score and Fleetwood have seen the last four. Skybet go 5/6 on this outcome and with the league cup at the first round, there will be some giant killings by the time this is released.

PSV take a 2-0 lead in their Champions League encounter and could again win to nil, where you will get 11/4 with Skybet. PSV are 4/5 to win on the road and Bet365 go 27/20 the game goes under 2.5 goals. PSV do no need to win this game, so it sort of puts us off recommending them, seeing as they have a two goal cushion.

Celtic take a solitary goal to Elfsborg, where bookies place both Celtic and the home side around 17/10 with 23/10 for the draw. With everything still to play for, Celtic could well grind out a draw and 188bet go 6/7 that the game ends under 2.5 goals

Molde go to Warsaw a massive 5/1 to take out the polish side and can qualify at a massive 9/4. Molde are not the best on the road and ground out a 1-1 draw, so tread carefully if you go in on this game.

Recommendations:

  • Notts Co/Fleetwood – Both teams to score 5/6 Skybet
  • Elsborg/Celtic – Under 2.5 goals – 6/7 188bet
  • R Gasquet to beat Martin Klizan 2-0 – 3/4 Bwin in ATP Montreal

Midweek betting – Tuesday

lockup-tipster-badge

We enter the midweek zone with plenty of sporting events to bet with, including the Champions League and Europa League football wise. ATP Montreal is upon us and quarter final Cricket T20 are the highlights.

Gilles Simon faces Nikolay Davydenko in Montreal where Davydenko beat Simon in their last encounter. In the seven times they have met, Simon has won five of the seven and after tasting defeat in the last encounter, Simon will be seeking revenge. Milos Raonic faces Jeremy Chardy in another game with Raonic winning the only meeting between the two and is good enough to make it two from two. Milos is 19/17 to win in straight sets, and bookies take no chances, where the last meeting ended 2-1.

The experienced Tommy Haas has the strength to see off David Goffin in straight sets, which is a stand out 4/6 with Paddy Power.

Partick will look good to brush visitors Ayr out of the League cup this Tuesday night and have remained unbeaten in the last five meetings and will want to make it six. Lyon hold a single goal lead, which is not enough in their Champions League qualifier and can go to Swiss team Grasshoppers and yield at least a draw to go one step closer to the group stages.

Recommendations:

Milos and Simon win double – 2.21 888sports

T Haas to win 2-0 over Goffin – 1.67 Paddy Power

Partick to win in Scottish League cup and Lyon win or draw – 2.02 Bet365

Wednesday/Thursday Betting

lockup-tipster-badge

We enter the midweek with Champions League and Europa League qualifying.

Wednesday sees a card of five matches in the Champions League, with Celtic in action. Celtic enjoyed their best run in the Champions League for years in recent seasons and would be gutted if they failed to make the group stage again this year. Celtic however, may be complacent, seeing as they were expected to romp the SPL last term, and appeared that they could afford to take the foot off the gas. With Hooper sold, will Celtic be short of strike force?

The Scottish Champions face Swedish team Elfsborg, who are 17 games into their campaign have not won in the last three, collecting two draws in succession. Celtic should take a lead into the second leg and can be banked at 4/7 to reign supreme.

Austrian Salzburg take on Turkish giants Fenerbache in a game that could end poised after the first leg. The home side have seen both teams score in four of the last five games, and are no strangers in scoring, winning the last two games by the same scoreline 5-1. Fenerbache will be prepared for this and will be eyeing atleast a goal to take back to Turkey as a minimum target. They have also seen both teams score in four of the last five, which puts up a healthy 8/5 double with Sportingbet and William Hill for a Celtic win and both teams to score in Salzburg.

Looking at Thursdays action, Swedish side Hacken welcome Swiss side Thun in a game the bookies cannot split in 90 minutes. Hacked have only netted 20 points from 17 games this season, with Thun only playing three games, being on the losing 3-2 end in the last two games. Thun are favourites to qualify, but think they will want to get atleast a draw in Sweden to take back for the second leg. Consider Thun, as Hacken have lost the last three and the European campaign for them in some respects comes at the wrong time for them. We expect Italian Udinese to make light work of Siroki Brijeg also to round off our double

Sevilla will be in a position to get off to a winning start this season and should be good enough to avoid conceding. Paddy Power offer to outstanding price of 4/5 to win to nil and as short as 1/3 at skybet.

Recommendations:

  •  Celtic win and both teams to score in Salzburg pays 8/5 at Sportingbet and William Hill (Weds)
  • Thun double chance win or draw and Udinese – 21/20 Bet365 (Thursday)
  • Sevilla to win to nil – 4/5 Paddy Power (Thursday)
  • Swansea/Malmo – Under 2.5 goals 19/20 Coral

  • Dortmund – 19/5 Betfred

Looking firstly at the facts and statistics for the game:

Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund

  • This final will be the first all-German clash in a European Cup final. 2000 (Spain), 2003 (Italy) and 2008 (England) are the three previous occasions of teams from the country meeting in the Champions League final.
  • A German team is guaranteed to win the Champions League for a third time. Dortmund in 1997 and Bayern in 2001 were the previous winners.
  • Bayern Munich have lost three of the four finals they have played in. Borussia Dortmund were victorious in the only final they have played.
  • Only once before have two German teams met in the final of a European competition. In 1980, Eintracht Frankfurt won the UEFA Cup beating Borussia Mönchengladbach in the final (losing 2-3 away in the first leg before winning the second 1-0 at home). Gladbach coach back then was Jupp Heynckes, the current Bayern boss.
  • Dortmund are undefeated against Bayern in their last six league games (four wins, two draws). However, Munich are undefeated in four competitive games this season (two wins in the Super Cup and DFB-Pokal and two draws in the Bundesliga).
  • The last duel on neutral ground between Bayern and Dortmund was the 2012 DFB-Pokal final. Dortmund won 5-2.
  • Bayern won all four games in the Quarter Final and Semi Finals without conceding a goal (11-0 on aggregate). They are only the fifth team in Champions League history to not concede a goal in any of their four matches in these two rounds.
  • This is Jupp Heynckes’ third Champions League campaign as a coach. In all three seasons he has reached the final. In 1998 he won the trophy with Real Madrid and last year, he lost the final with Bayern Munich.
  • Bayern could become the first German team to win the Treble (league championship, domestic cup, and the Champions League or European Cup). Six clubs have managed it previously; with the last being Inter Milan in 2010.
  • Mario Götze will transfer to Bayern Munich this summer for a fee of 37 million euros. Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic had more assists in this Champions League campaign (7) than Götze (5).
  • Only Cristiano Ronaldo (12) has scored more goals in the Champions League this season than Robert Lewandowski (10). Bayern’s top scorer is Thomas Müller with eight.
  • Neven Subotic (133) and Mats Hummels (106) have been forced into making more clearances than any other players in the Champions League this season.
  • Javi Martinez has made 39 interceptions; more than any other player in the Champions League this season. Only Arturo Vidal (44) has made more tackles than Martinez’s midfield partner Bastian Schweinsteiger (43).
  • Six of the 10 goals Bayern have conceded in the competition this season have been scored in the final 15 minutes of their matches.
  • Bayern have scored more headed goals in the Champions League than any other side this season.
  • BVB have kept just three clean sheets in their last 12 European matches.
  • Just one of the last five Champions League finals has gone over 2.5 goals. However, that final was also played at Wembley (Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United in 2011).

In our opinion with the clean sheet record of Bayern conceding just eighteen goals all season versus the forty-two that Dormund conceded and a cracking bet for Bayern to win to nil at 5/1 with Boylesports, your stake can easily be covered across the spectrum.

We are going outright on Bayern, simply as they suffered heartache last season in the final and they will want to avoid lightening striking again

Recommendation:

  • Bayern Munich – 4/5 Bet365

Saturday Betting

DP

We return for this Saturday column after a few days away, and what a week we have had. On other columns in association with twopointfivetip.com, we have experienced some great results in the PDC Dubai Masters Darts. With the Champions League Final headlining the football action, firms are offering money back, if Bayern Munich fail to win.

There are a significant volume of football outside of the major European leagues, with action in America, (north and south), Japan to name a few. However, we head to Norway on this Saturday, where there are two games taking place.

First up are Molde who welcome Honefoss lying in 16th place, with the visitors in 10th. Bookies have Molde at just 7/15 at 188bet and 2/5 in other places. Molde with six points from the last eighteen welcome their opponents who have pocketed nine from the last eighteen. Honefoss have not been able to beat Molde in the last six mustering up just two score draws in the process. two of the six have been won by Molde to nil and the other 3-1 in Molde’s favour.

The bet here goes with the over/under 2.5 goals market. All of Molde’s games at home have gone over 2.5 goals, with the away team seeing three from six go over. The away team have kept tight scoring nine and conceding ten in six games, indicating slightly over three goals average. In five Molde home games they have only scored eight goals, but conceded twelve.

Over 2.5 is way too short at 1/2 despite the average for both teams, and this could well go in the favour of the under goals as both teams scoring has remained steady, but low. With William Hill betting 6/4 on under 2.5 goals, this must be a treat seeing the averages are just over three.

In the other game Valerenga host Rosenborg, where the home team have beaten Rosenborg once in the last six meetings and are 14/5 to create another upset against 1/1 Rosenborg with Coral. The away side are second in the league playing eleventh place Valerenga. Rosenborg have suffered just two defeats in the league, one at home, one away, with the home side with two defeats under their belt. At even money, Rosenborg are a good price at evens to maintain the early pace that Stromsgodset have set.

Recommendations:

  • Molde/Honefoss – Under 2.5 goals – 6/4 Hills
  • Rosenborg – 1/1 Coral
  • Bayern Munich – 4/5 Bet365

Barcelona Vs Bayern Munich preview & tips

lockup-tipster-badge

Who would have ever predicted Barcelona leaving Munich without scoring, but still carrying a near impossible task, if they want to make the final against confirmed finalist Borrusia Dortmund

Best match odds:

  • Barcelona – 17/20 Ladbrokes
  • Draw – 7/2 Bwin
  • Munich – 10/3 Betfred

Although Bayern are BIG at 10/3, with their substantial lead in the tie, must be a reason to oppose them! I imagine bookies are rushing to lay off liabilities taken on a Spanish Champions League double. With one leg down, bookies can lay off the rest.

Opta facts – supplied by optasports.com

  • No team has ever overturned a 4-0 deficit after the first leg of a Champions League knockout game.
  • Barcelona’s 4-0 defeat in Munich in the first-leg was their heaviest in a Champions League game since their defeat by the same scoreline against Dinamo Kiev back in November 1997.
  • If Bayern Munich qualify, it will be the third time they have reached the final of the Champions League in the last four seasons. They were beaten finalists in each of their last two appearances (v Inter Milan in 2010 and Chelsea in 2012).
  • Barcelona have only won one of their seven competitive encounters with Bayern Munich (two draws, four defeats).
  • Barcelona have won only one of their last six Champions League games (three draws, two defeats).
  • Worse, they have won only one of their last seven knockout games in the competition (4-0 v AC Milan in this season’s last 16), drawing three and losing three.
  • Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 21 Champions League games at Camp Nou (16 wins, five draws), their last defeat dating back to October 2009 against Rubin Kazan (1-2).
  • Barcelona’s last three home games in the CL knockout stages against German sides have all seen the Catalans win by at least four clear goals: 4-0 v Bayern Munich in April 2009, 4-0 v Vfb Stuttgart in March 2010 and 7-1 v Bayer Leverkusen in March 2012.
  • Bayern Munich have scored more goals than any other side in the Champions League this season (26).
  • Bayern Munich have won their last three Champions League games without conceding a single goal, the best current run in the competition.
  • Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny is the last player to score against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, it was 275 minutes ago.
  • Thomas Müller has been directly involved in 54.5% of Bayern Munich’s goals in the knockout stages of the Champions League this season, six out of 11 (four goals and two assists).
  • Since 2008/09, Lionel Messi has scored 51 goals in the Champions League, which is 37 more than any other Barcelona player over that period (Pedro, 14 goals).

What do we expect from the game:

We expect Barcelona to win by 1-2 goals, and Barcelona to win by two or more can be taken at 5/2 with Stan James. We expect the mighty Spanish to reign supreme on the night, but do not think, even their might can overturn the German lead.

Recommended betting:

  • Barcelona – 17/20 Ladbrokes
  • Half time draw – 17/10 Bwin
  • Thomas Muller to score – 3/1 888sport

Champions League Opta Facts: Semi Final Second Legs

Courtesy of optasports.com

Real Madrid – Borussia Dortmund

  • Only one team has managed to overturn a 4-1 deficit after the first leg of a Champions League knockout game – it was Deportivo La Coruna against AC Milan in the quarter-finals of the 2003/04 campaign. They won 4-0 at the Riazor in the second leg.
  • Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in their last four encounters with Real Madrid (two wins, two draws). They have met three times in the Champions League this season with Dortmund winning 2-1 and 4-1 at home and drawing at the Bernabeu (2-2).
  • Real Madrid have won two and drawn one of their three home games against Dortmund in the Champions League.
  • Borussia Dortmund are the only team unbeaten in the Champions League this season (seven wins, four draws).
  • Four of Dortmund’s five away games in the Champions League this season have ended in a draw.
  • Real Madrid haven’t reached the Champions League final since 2002 while Dortmund’s only final appearance was back in 1997 – they were the eventual winners, beating Juventus (3-1).
  • Real Madrid’s games have produced 42 goals (24 for, 18 against), the most in the Champions League this season.
  • Real Madrid have conceded seven goals in their last two CL games (three v Galatasaray and four v Dortmund).
  • Real Madrid have won 14 of their 17 Champions League games at the Bernabeu under Jose Mourinho. 10 of these games have been won by at least three-clear goals.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in this season’s Champions League with 12 goals. It beats his previous best tally in the competition (10 goals in 2011/12).
  • Ronaldo has scored in each of his last six Champions League games, equalling the record previously set by Marouane Chamakh and Burak Yilmaz.
  • Ronaldo and Dortmund’s Marcel Schmelzer are the only outfield players to have featured in every single minute of this season’s Champions League campaign.
  • Robert Lewandowski has been directly involved in 52% of Dortmund’s goals in the Champions League this season, 12 out of 23 (10 goals, two assists). He became the first ever player to score four goals in a European Cup/Champions League game against Real Madrid.

Wednesday Betting

DP

A quiet Wednesday! WE have already advised both teams to score in all four champions league games.

If this comes in tuesday, take the option of holding the bet open, or take a trade on the NO outcome to achieve a winning outcome, which ever outcomes lands come the close of play wednesday.

Dortmund and Real Madrid for both teams not to score is around the 11/8 mark. The double ensures a 2.72 return, so taking a small gain will ensure a positive trade. It is common sense to cover all bases, as the bookie would, so in our opinion, playing them at their own game, while the odds remain in our favour.

Yes there is the double could be hit at the first hurdle but the bet looks good, seeing Barcelonas scoring power.

Recommended Wednesday betting:

As above, take NO on both teams to score if  Tuesday’s speculation comes in, best 2.45 at BetVictor.

Wednesdays Daley double

  • Grimsby/Newport – both to score
  • ST Etienne to win
